Best provably-fair crypto casinos

The best provably-fair crypto casinos we compare are ranked by overall ProvenPayouts Score; #1 is BitStarz.

Provably fair is a cryptographic commitment, not a safety rating. Before you bet, the casino publishes a hash of its server seed; you supply a client seed; a nonce increments with each round. When you rotate seeds the original is revealed, so you can hash it, confirm it matches the commitment, and replay every result. That proves the sequence was fixed before you staked and not rewritten afterwards, and nothing more: not that the house edge is small, the paytable generous, or the operator solvent enough to pay a win. Nothing can be verified until you rotate. This shortlist is the same ten operators as our other lists, narrowed to those publishing a verifier for in-house games and ordered by the ProvenPayouts Score, an editorial judgement from public information explained at how we rank.

FAQ

How does provably fair actually work?

Each round is generated from three inputs: a server seed the casino keeps secret, a client seed you control, and a nonce that increments with every bet. Before play, the casino publishes a hash of the server seed, a fingerprint it cannot alter afterwards without the hash failing to match. Outcomes are produced by combining those three values. When you rotate to a new server seed, the old one is revealed; you hash it yourself, confirm it matches the fingerprint you were shown, then replay each nonce to reproduce every result. Matching results mean that sequence was fixed before you wagered, for that seed pair.

What does a provably fair verifier not prove?

It proves one narrow thing: the result was determined before your bet and not altered afterwards. It says nothing about how the game is priced, since a verifiable dice game can carry a ten per cent house edge as easily as a one per cent one, and the fairness page will not tell you which. It does not prove the operator is solvent, that withdrawals are paid, that account limits are reasonable, or that bonus terms are winnable. It also covers only games with a verifier attached, usually in-house originals. Licence, terms and payout policy are what side-by-side comparison sets side by side.

Do provably fair games have a lower house edge?

No. Provable fairness and house edge are independent. The first is about whether a result was tampered with; the second is about what the paytable returns over time, and it is disclosed in the game rules rather than the verifier. A verified game with a poor return is entirely possible. The edge also drives bonus arithmetic: break-even wagering is W = 1/h on a bonus-only base, or W = m/(h(1+m)) when the deposit counts too, which at a four per cent edge means 25x, or 12.5x on a 100 per cent match. Market terms of 35x to 45x sit above both. Run your own numbers at break-even table and bonus calculator.

Why are slots almost never provably fair?

Because the outcome is produced by the game studio's own remote server, not by the casino, and studios generally do not expose the seeds behind their random number generator. Licensed slot content is instead certified by independent test laboratories, which sample the generator's output and confirm the published return to player. That is a different kind of assurance: you are trusting a named auditor and the licensing regulator rather than checking the mathematics yourself. A site can therefore run a provably fair dice or crash game alongside hundreds of slots you will never verify. Judge those on the studio, the licence and the stated return to player, terms defined in glossary.

Should I set my own client seed, and does it matter?

Yes. The client seed is the input the casino cannot control, and it is what stops a sequence being pre-computed to suit your account. Most sites fill in a default; replace it with a string of your own and change it periodically. Order matters: set a new client seed against a server-seed hash the casino has already published, so the commitment cannot have been chosen with your seed in mind. Rotation matters for the other half too, since the old server seed is only revealed when you rotate, and nothing can be checked until then. Verify at least one batch: a verifier nobody uses is a verifier nobody checks. More worked questions sit on answers.
